"Friend" giving bad advice.?

Right now, I am not in the best situation. I am not working steady, and despite having dreams, its not so easy right now. I have a friend who was lecturing me on basically not putting all my eggs in one basket and pursuing my dreams with gusto, despite not having a foundation. This is just a recipe for financial disaster, and bitterness down the road, in the event things don't work out. He is not happy in his situation, and I feel as if he is giving me bad, unsound advice on purpose.
